Kyle Sturges works in Undergraduate Admissions as senior assistant director of international admissions. For faculty and staff, he founded Spectrum, the University’s LGBTQ and Ally Employee Resource Group.
Pamela Nolan Young, director for academic diversity and inclusion, joined the University in April 2016. It is a newly created role, the result of the work of the President’s Oversight Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and the emphasis President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., has placed on diversity since the committee was formed in 2013.
Thomas Waldschmidt, safety specialist in Risk Management and Safety, joined the University in January, along with his service dog Bodie, a 5-month-old golden retriever that’s been his partner since March. Waldschmidt is training Bodie as a hearing service dog.
Keri Kei Shibata, the University’s recently appointed police chief, is a 12-year veteran of the Notre Dame Security Police Department (NDSP).
Around 60 percent of staff — nearly 3,000 people — have been trained through “We Are All ND” seminars required for all non-supervisory staff and “Multicultural Competencies: Hiring Game Changers” aimed at managers and supervisors.
