The Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies will sponsor and cosponsor lectures, panel discussions, and book launches—all of them virtual—that range in topic from anti-Asian hostility during the coronavirus pandemic to Uyghur repression in China to “engaged” Buddhism in Asia.
“The pandemic has, of course, changed the format of our events, but it has not affected the quality of our programming,” said Institute Director Michel Hockx. “We are especially excited to highlight the expertise of our newer scholars and their research. We’re confident that this fall’s lineup of events will give our audience a greater understanding and appreciation for Asia and its role in global affairs.”
The public is invited to register for all events, which will be conducted through the Zoom webinar platform.
