Supporting a loved one through the aging journey can present challenges for family members assisting their aging loved one, as well as for the senior themselves.

The Center for Arts & Culture hosted a two-day event, Walking Alongside: A Navigation Conference for Family Caregivers. The conference provided community members with conversation, support and resource-sharing focused on aging-in-place.

Jackie Rucker, associate director of Community Relations, told WSBT that she came up with the idea for the workshop based on her own experiences as a caregiver for her father.

"There were just so many questions that I had," she said. "How am I going to go to work and make sure he’s taken care of while I’m at work? Are there programs that we qualify for?"
